Class descriptions:

Awareness Through Movement® classes consist of ingenious, gentle movement sequences designed to bring mobility, ease and efficiency to all forms of physical activity through heightened awareness of how the body - and the mind - can function together as an integrated whole. "Feldenkrais has studied the body in movement with a precision that I have found nowhere else." - Peter Brook, Film and Stage Director

Classes meet Monday nights for 8-week sessions in spring, summer, fall and winter, and for a 5-week holiday session in December/January. Cost is $130 for 8 weeks (advance registration); $140 (late registration); or $18 (single class). Classes are open to adults.

Capoeira is an Afro-Brazilian movement form that incorporates elements of martial arts and dance with percussion, song, acrobatics, cleverness, and cunning. At its core, capoeira is about community and self-expression. It is a dynamic art form for people of all ages that develops creativity, physical fitness, cultural awareness, self-confidence, and music! The second most popular sport in Brazil, capoeira is practiced in nearly every country in the world.

Beginning Belly Dance: This class is designed for those with little or no belly dance experience. During the course, students will learn basic belly dance technique and in some six-weeks sessions, actually integrate the learned technique into a short, choreographed routine. This class is lots of fun and will also have you break a sweat—or two! Throughout the course, Samora also teaches students about the history of the dance and about Middle Eastern music and culture. Classes are taught in a six-week session, which costs $60.

Intermediate Belly Dance: This “belly boot-camp” class is for belly dance students who are familiar with basic technique, traveling and some standard prop use. This class is a choreography-based class where Samora will teach intermediate and advanced technique, traveling steps and prop use through choreography. The class is fast-paced and lots of fun. Classes are taught in a six-week session, which costs $60.
